Cushman & Wakefield Recognized as a Green Lease Leader

Cushman & Wakefield, one of the country’s leading real estate firms, was recently recognized by the Green Lease Leaders program as one of the nation’s leading law firms for a “Green Light” award in the Greenlight Awards.

A representative from Cushman & Wakefield was named a Green Lease Leader at the national Greenlight Awards on April 25, at the National Green Lawyers Conference at Manhattan’s Marriott Marquis Hotel, by Greenlight judges and the Greenlight Management Association, a professional membership group of professional operators in the United States and Canada, for their commitment to the nation’s sustainable real estate practices.

At the presentation, Cushman & Wakefield’s CEO, Richard LaRue, was recognized as the “Green Light” winner and honored with the Green Light Founder’s Award. Steve Capone, president of the practice group that made up the Greenlight Leadership Team, and Kyle Simon, a legal partner of the firm and chair of the Greenlight Leadership Team, presented LaRue with the award during a ceremony at the Hilton New York, Bloomberg said.

In honoring Cushman & Wakefield, the Greenlight Awards program honors “green-minded” companies that are leaders in their respective fields. Greenlighting companies are those companies that exhibit a commitment to national sustainability initiatives and have demonstrated innovative approaches to reducing environmental impact. Greenlighting companies are those companies that are expanding the use of renewable energy sources and improving their energy efficiency, driving down costs to improve energy security and lowering energy consumption.

“A number of our Greenlight partners decided to take the leap of faith and join us in the transition to sustainable real estate,” said Bruce Bennett, co-president of the Greenlight Leadership Team and a Greenlight Entrepreneur Award recipient. “Through their work, we’ve met and connected with more than 3,000 companies and innovators across all industries and all locations in America.”

Greenlight board members noted that the Greenlight awards program “is not only an ideal path for individual nominees to seek financial benefits and social awareness, but it also helps people to realize the potential of their businesses to lead the way on the green energy energy journey by endorsing what they do.”

To nominate a Greenlight Leadership Member, individuals are asked to submit contact information and names of anyone at a company that would benefit from being included in the program. The companies taking part in Greenlight Leadership Member grants will be eligible for financial assistance for small grants to SMEs and technical assistance in advancing the green energy initiative to improve energy security and reduce demand for energy.
