Arkansas Razorbacks Softball Wants You to Join in April National Meet

Arkansas Razorbacks softball will play Puerto Rico in their second tournament of the spring — tournament tickets for the 2017 NCAA Regionals have now gone on sale. The team, which defeated Puerto Rico, 4-1, in an 11-inning thriller at Birmingham, Ala., last season, will now have a home field advantage as they attempt to break into the College World Series tournament.

In order to secure tickets, parents and guardians are asked to submit registration forms to [email protected] and Lottery No. 11 North located at the Recreational Center Complex in Rogers, Ark. The group registration deadline is Wednesday, May 17, and organizers will process applications on Thursday, May 18. The 2017 Division II State Team Representation would match regional teams from 19 states who competed in the NCAA Regionals. Only State Teams can compete against Regionals participants in the 2017 College World Series, which begins June 22 at Norman, Okla. The best competition can match Regionals participants from the remaining nine states between June 10 and June 18.

“This is a great opportunity for our team to compete and finish this off,” said head coach Abby Robinson. “Last year, we had a big win over Puerto Rico but they beat some really good competition on our schedule. Being home field advantage is great. We expect that level of competition again, but at the same time, with the higher level we will have this home field advantage. I have great faith that our fans will come out and support the team.”

The Razorbacks will open their season against Grand Canyon on Saturday, June 10 in a pair of three-inning contests. The teams will then meet for a doubleheader on Saturday, June 17. The Razorbacks will hit the road beginning in Alaska on Saturday, June 24 for a doubleheader against Wofford in a pair of three-inning contests. The two teams will then play a one-game semifinal game on Saturday, June 30.

Coach Robinson added that the schools would seek out those locals needed to play for Arkansas for purposes of special promotion and fan support in the stands for the winner of each game. Major incentives include the home team first-pitch fare, cheap/sloppy tickets and discounted parking prices, all driven by the promotion.

To purchase tickets for the NCAA Regionals, team members are asked to bring the appropriate registration form. IndividualCoachingServices.com is accepting registrations for 2017 individuals recruiting groups and Arkansas University student-athletes from Thursday, May 17 through Thursday, May 18. Registration begins at 4 p.m.

The inaugural Arkansas Razorbacks softball and 2011 University of Arkansas Athletic Hall of Fame President’s Award recipient, Bill Schumann, will be awarded the 2017 President’s Award prior to the first game on Saturday, June 24. Schumann was recruited to Arkansas by ex-Arkansas assistant coach Lou Redknapp during his first season at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 2012.
